Something from Nothing
Most people never really change. This is a sad fact, but nonetheless true. Some people never even try. They just get up every day and start the cycle over and over again. Basically, they sit in a rocking chair and think they’re actually going somewhere.
But those of us who do change, and I assume that you are in that group since you’ve taken the time to read this article, and some of my others; often experience great frustration and disappointment as we encounter the same limitations over and over again. Life can start to seem just to be repetitious junk. Einstein said “insanity is doing the same things over and over again expecting different results.”
Creating Something from Something
Why is it that in most cases your life keeps looking like some variation of whatever you’ve experienced before? It’s kind of like Deja-vu but with an ever so slight change. The answer is: because you are creating something from something. You’re attempting to create a new and different future based on the limitations of your past. Think about this for a second.
Imagine that you are a potter and you have a piece of clay. You can study your craft and make pots that are smoother, sturdier, or more beautiful than before. But when all is said and done, they’re still … just clay pots. Who says you have to be a potter? And who says you can only make things out of just clay?
In Kabbalah, there is a fundamental principle of Creation known as ‘yesh m’ayin’ – meaning literally “something from nothing.” This principle explains that God/Source is bringing the entire world - including you - into existence from absolute nothingness at every moment. Something from nothing again? Just follow me on this.
God/Source didn’t create this world once and withdraw back into a gold throne in the skies, where He supervises from a distance and intervenes when appropriate. Rather, Source is actively and intentionally speaking the world into existence from nothing in the present moment, again and again and again. In fact, if God/Source would stop creating this world – with all of its myriad details – at any moment, the world and everything in it would disappear as if it had never been. No I will try and explain further since you’ve made it this far.
Two things are very clear. The world has no existence outside of God/Source Energy. Everything we experience in life is part and essence of this Source and the intention and purpose for Creation. Basically, scientifically and spiritually God/Source is all there is, and there is - is God. If everything comes from one element, no matter where along the creative process it is, that same element of origin in present and in totality the fundamental being of that entire process.
God/Source Energy desires the world – and you – with an intense and personal desire - attraction/Love. Otherwise, there would be no creating going on. Everything you do has great meaning and significance to all. That’s why ALL keeps on creating. So now, a bit deeper we go.
Actually, the truth is much more powerful than that. God/Source Energy doesn’t make anything or anyone without a profound purpose. There exists a passionate desire for you and just as passionately, you are search for something higher than yourself as a desire as well. You know there;s something more than just this. It’s a knowledge built into you. And Source is waiting for you to connect with the Divine purpose for which you have been created. To make your life, your relationships and your circumstances a “dwelling place” for the Divine universal consciousness.
Now, we got to the “what is nothingness?” part of all of this. God/Source Energy, creates from Nothing because Nothingness, “ayin,” actually means absolute, infinite possibility. No limitations. No restrictions. None at all. It’s like the void from which all things are made manifest. It’s like when people see a Zero (0), they say it’s nothing. But it is actually the beginning of infinite potential and an integral part of mathematics. It has a “value.” It’s NOT nothing. It’s ZERO - a full number equal to any other number.
When you don’t need to be any particular something, you’re free to be anything. Kabbalah calls this “infinite potential nothingness.” Not because there’s no-thing there, but because there are absolutely no limitations that define or restrict this infinite possibility in any way. Anything and everything is potentiality - a universe of endless possibilities. Limitless … no ceiling, no walls or floors.
In fact, YOU … are already creating something from nothing. As a human beings “created in the image of God/Source,” you are also empowered to create something from nothing. And you do, all the time. Every moment of every day. Unfortunately, most of the time what we create from nothing are the stories about what we can’t do, aren’t capable of, will never have, etc. (all dark negative thoughts, manifestations, and form) together with all the reasons why or why not.
These stories are continuously being recreated from nothing in each of our lives. But unlike God/Source, that creates consciously, WE create this reality unconsciously. It’s a sort of default programming. It’s junk that is buried in our unconscious mind which happens to operate us at about 95% of the time. Yes, I understand that you have reasons for what you believe, but those reasons, while they may help to explain your past, do not have the power to limit your future. Unless you think they do, and act accordingly. You should look back only in reference to help you see things in a new light.
Most of us don’t wake up in the morning in awe of our own potentiality, in touch with our Divine purpose - our Spark of Christ-Consciousness, filled with the joy of life, ready to create. More often we wake up all-too-conscious of our limitations, our disappointments, our frustrations, our unfulfilled needs, and the burdensome problems we need to solve. No wonder so many of us are worn out before we even get out of bed. Even though when we are awake, we are considered to be “conscious” … up to 95% of our day is spent unconsciously meander through the same programming we have had for years. Our awake conscious mind is only active about 5% of the total brain time of your day.
Your life, your present and future, is actually an ayin – nothing. Yes, as a soul in a specific physical body, there are some limits to what you can create. But you have no idea what they are.
Do you want to experience unconditional love? How would you behave if you were committed to love others unconditionally, especially those people who long for your love? Your parents. Your children. Your spouse. Your friends. What if you noticed, accepted and appreciated the way they love you – even if it doesn’t yet look exactly the way you want it to look?
What might happen today if you behaved that way? What if you stayed committed to that experience over time – what might happen to your most intimate relationships, your family, your community, your world? Don’t shortchange yourself by skipping over this question. Really take the time to think about it. Changing the world always begins with oner person.
Do you want to experience your power to live as a creator rather than a victim in your life? How would you behave if you refused to let your fears and past failures put any limits on what you do right now? What would you do that you’ve been putting off? What else? What might you actually create or achieve over time if you do those things? And perhaps even more important, what would life be like for you right now if you choose to be a person who isn’t stopped by fear or guilt? These two things stop so many of us dead in our tracks.
Do you want to be more intimately in touch with your Divine purpose? How would you behave if you were a person committed to seeing infinite and loving presence in all aspects of your life? What if every action you take was based on the assumption that nothing is wrong? Simply because God/Source is intentionally, creating your world right now on behalf of your ultimate purpose and fulfillment? You have a Creative License … from the Power of The Universe to CREATE! Choose wisely what you think and wish to manifest … for others, and for yourself … because truthfully - we are all One. The Universe is one living organism of which we are all an integral essence of.
Ancient scriptures are filled with Gardener and Farmer allegories and metaphors. Be like that Gardener/Farmer who carefully and lovingly tills his field, plants good seeds, waters and tends to them. But remember, sometimes it can take a bit of time to see the results of your efforts. Don’t go out in the field in the middle of the night and dig up the crop to see if it’s growing. Trust me, there will be a harvest coming. Be willing to create something from nothing, you don’t have to twiddle your thumbs while you wait for things to grow. The very decision to be a creator in your own life brings with it joy, fulfillment - and miracles. Enjoy the journey …
Just a thought …
